The Mai Mahiu-Suswa-Narok road has been re-opened to traffic after engineers refilled a section of the road that had dipped in on Monday, March 19.

In a statement sent to newsrooms, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) confirmed the restoration of the road, saying a team had been deployed to the site to ensure the road is safe for motorists.

“A contractor and a team of engineers have permanently been assigned to the site to monitor any developments that may occur as a result of the isostatic adjustment of the volcanic area, which is attributed to the fault line that has developed,” said KeNHA assistant director of corporate communication, Charles Njogu.

This was the second time in less than a week that the Suswa section of the Narok-Mai Mahiu road was cutting off.

Last week on Tuesday, a section of the Mai Mahiu â€" Suswa road dipped in, with KeNHA saying, “the road developed a fault line stretching 200 metres and completely cut the road off.
